Fence Staining Services
by Coldwater Painting
Whether you have a fence that needs a new coat of stain or a new fence that you would like to have stained, Coldwater Painting can help.
Exterior wood fences can turn gray within the first year of construction. No matter what type of wood, Coldwater Painting can make it look like new again. Just a pressure wash can go a long way in bringing the fence back to life, but when you apply a quality stain to the fence, it will help protect your investment.
Various factors determine the maintenance required for your fence including:
- Exposure to weather.
- The type of stain.
- Fence placement.
- Design of the fence.
Our Staining Process
Fence staining can be a little different than painting your house but more similar to a deck. Various factors could change the prep work and how the stain should be applied.
- New wood (Treated/Not-Treated)
- Previously Stained / Never Stained
- What type of stain was previously applied (how many coats)
- Overall condition of the fence. Is there wood that needs to be replaced?
*Coldwater painting can replace some wood on a fence, but we are not equipped or licensed for structural repairs. If it’s a fence picket, we can help, but if it’s a post or supporting structures, we cannot help.
Once we have identified the condition of the deck, we will:
1. Wash
The fence will receive a pressure wash. In most cases, we will use a detergent to help address any mold and mildew on the fence or stripper if we are removing old oil-based transparent stains. Once the pressure wash is complete, we will wait for the fence to dry (typically the next day, weather permitting), crews will set up equipment, and prep work will begin.
2. Prep
We will mask off all necessary areas and use drop cloths where needed. We do not sand fencing.
3. Stain
All quoted wood repairs will be completed prior to staining. Once the fence is prepped and ready, we will apply 1 or 2 coats of stain depending on the type of stain the customer chooses to utilize.
4. Clean
At the end of each day, our crews will clean up around the home and store materials and equipment away. Once the project is complete, we will ensure we clean up as much as we can with the goal of leaving your home like we were never there.
5. Inspect
After the project is complete your job supervisor will review the project with you to inspect the work and provide any feedback.
Fence Staining Done Right
Coldwater Painting uses proper staining techniques to ensure the new stain on your fence will last as long as possible. Unfortunately because of the nature of stains and fences, there is no warranty on fence staining. However, when properly prepped and applied, a stain can last you several years.
If you’re having to stain your fence every year, there is another issue at large and we can help you determine/narrow down the cause. Feel free to contact us for a consultation!
We take pride in our work and when you hire Coldwater Painting to stain your fence, we want to leave you with a good impression and quality work.
